Wow. I really like this!

Design Boom features Matt Green.

I've recently been playing with mixed media, myself, and with the idea in my head.
Matt Green "drawing and photography are both used atop textured surfaces that have been coated
with thick layers of varnish."

I like the gritty, unplanned feel mixed with specific intentions (lines creating perspective)

What will they come up with next??

CORE77 speaks of how marketers are not only coming up with ads and such, but are now designing products to promote their movies.

The above is a skateboard. The marketers for this movie "invited artists around the world to re-interpet the U.S.S. Starship Enterprise to promote the upcoming movie."

It's an interesting concept. Will the marketers eventually sell these products? Curious...

For instance, google mail and facebook does this. THIS link let's you clear yourself from some of these companies grips!

I agree with Seth, that personalized ads are not a terrible idea, and I'd rather see ads for things I actually may want to buy! Sirius Satellite Radio has just copyrighted a way to do something similar, on air.

These things are ok, as long as they aren't done without us knowing. Let us give you PERMISSION.
Seth wrote a whole book on that. Good stuff.

The cactuses continue!

There was a different post from designboom with products inspired by cactuses. This design was feature in Core77. I love the detail in the cushion. I just wonder if the things that are sticking out would be easily pulled out or get worn quickly. Either way, it's an absurd design, but it's still great!

Crafty Eh??

My friend are always calling me crafty, but I don't believe I could be as crafty as these people!
Design Boom showcases this result in the "Craft Punk Design" contest in Miami.

The turntable starts the motion and sets off a series of small machines. Basically, it looks like a music video, to whatever song is on the turntable.
AWESOME!

In Seth Godin's entry he talks about how because there are so many tools for learning graphic design that are readily available / cheap / free, so everyone should be decent at it, at least! Better yet, good.

Obviously, studying to be a graphic designer I want to be GREAT. But the above is how I feel about web design / ccs. I feel like I should be at least decent. And I'm getting there, with trying to learn the band myspaces. Problem is there are so many tutorials and what not, it's hard to decide which to trust and whatnot. But it is true that everyone should use their time wisely to take advantage of these things.

I'm working on it!

So, this guy, Alejandro S. Ceron, makes stuff that sort of looks like garbage! If you saw this stuff just out in someone's yard, you'd probably think, man, they should leave that inside until garbage day!
