Seth Godin posts a sweet little link in this entry. Cookies track your web activity, and some companies are secretly tracking what you do and where you are going to get you more specific ads. For instance, google mail and facebook does this. THIS link let's you clear yourself from some of these companies grips!
I agree with Seth, that personalized ads are not a terrible idea, and I'd rather see ads for things I actually may want to buy! Sirius Satellite Radio has just copyrighted a way to do something similar, on air.
These things are ok, as long as they aren't done without us knowing. Let us give you PERMISSION.
